In July 2018, WISE reached its goal of 20 live sites on eConsult! The Multi-County eConsult Initiative is a partnership among Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and Riverside University Health System (RUHS) to improve access to care for the Safety-Net population in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. An electronic care management process, eConsult allows PCPs and specialists to share clinical information and coordinate patient care while reducing unnecessary specialty visits, no-shows, and overload of specialty clinics. Since January 1, 2018, the WISE MCEI Implementation team has been training physicians and clinical staff on the use of eConsult. We are proud to announce that as of July 2018, 20 sites are live in the eConsult system throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties! Over 1,200 eConsults have been generated and received by specialists in the areas of Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Podiatry, Gastroenterology, Urology, Hepatology, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, and Infectious Disease. Before the end of 2018, eConsult is projected to add new specialty reviewers in Dermatology, Neurology, MFM, Surgery – Colorectal, Surgery – Surgical Oncology, Surgery – Vascular, and Surgery – General, incorporate a single sign on process with the IEHP portal, and facilitate automatic submission of referrals for eConsults deemed necessary of a face to face visit with a specialist.
